For over 25 years, our Mobile Arts Program (MAP) has served the greater San Antonio area by taking art to the community. We make art education portable by “mobilizing” art teachers and sending them into area schools, shelters, community centers, libraries, and other sites at a very reasonable cost.
MAP provides hands-on learning and demonstrations by practicing artists to deliver high-quality educational programming that complements classroom curriculums. Each year, MAP participants learn color theory, composition, form and more, in media such as book arts, drawing and painting, clay, sculpture, weaving and design.
If you are interested in contracting the MAP program to visit your school, program, or community, please contact Program Coordinator Rose Barcus by emailing rose.barcus@ozone-1.com.
The Artist in Residence program serves students K-5th grade in a collaborative partnership with local working Artist Educators and elementary school campuses. Artists in Residence are local, professional artists who are passionate about inspiring young artists about what it means to be a working artist in San Antonio and beyond.
The B-Movie Cinema Club is a tuition-based after-school studio experience for middle school students designed to promote an appreciation for cinema, teach elements of filmmaking, work together as a production team, and create multiple student-driven short films.
KIDS is an architecture-based program offered to 3rd and 5th grade students where participants learn art and design concepts by way of exploring the built world. Participating students demonstrate newly acquired knowledge and skills by creating unique and imaginative structural models, and by engaging in thoughtful discussion with the teaching team and their peers.
A limited number of scholarships for tuition assistance are available annually for Summer Art Studios and are available the first Friday of December. Scholarships are available for community members who qualify. Those interested in more information may contact Patricia Morales, rose.barcus@ozone-1.com
We're always looking for talented and passionate educators who want to share their knowledge with students in our Mobile Arts Program. If you are interested in becoming an on-call, adjunct instructor, please review the full job description and information on how to apply provided below:
世界杯官方app is accepting applications for on-call adjunct instructors to teach and manage the operational details of education programs, workshops and classes in conjunction with our Mobile Arts Program. We currently have opportunities for teaching artists to work with diverse students at school sites and community centers. A majority of our teaching opportunities are located on a campus and occur after school, between the hours of 3:30pm and 6pm. We have strong support and partnership with school site managers, teachers, counselors and principals who are eager to meet our teaching artists!
At each site, you will represent 世界杯官方app and will be expected to share knowledge about the visual arts, as well as information about offerings, such as scholarship programs, Saturday Morning Discovery and Summer Art Studios. Adjunct instructors are responsible for operational details, including setting up of the classroom/space, preparing and organizing necessary supplies, cleaning up after class, and evaluating and documenting class success. It is expected that MAP presented by SSA are engaging and often interactive, while providing a learning opportunity for students. In addition to MAP, there are many other opportunities to partner with us in providing quality arts education.
